Policy
This policy sets out what HostKontor servers may be used for — and what they may not. It applies to every service: VPS, cloud servers and dedicated servers.
NoticeThe services may only be used within applicable law. Customers are responsible for the content, software and traffic originating from their servers — including actions taken by third parties through the server, with or without consent.
Prohibited in particular: attacks of any kind (DoS/DDoS, brute force, unauthorised scanning), distributing malware, phishing, sending spam, operating botnet infrastructure, infringing copyrights or trademarks, unlawful content including child sexual abuse material, and circumventing third parties' technical protection measures.
Traffic is not billed by volume. In return, the port speed must not be saturated continuously — for instance by permanently maxing out the line. Ordinary web, application, database and backup workloads are expressly unaffected.
Customers take reasonable precautions so their servers are not compromised: up-to-date software, secure credentials, no open relays or resolvers without access control. Compromised systems may be suspended until cleaned up.
Report abuse to info@hostkontor.de. Include the affected IP address, the timestamp with time zone and verifiable evidence (log excerpt, headers, URL). Do not send sensitive personal data unencrypted.
Reports are assessed on the evidence supplied. Depending on severity, measures range from a demand to remedy, to suspension of individual services, to termination without notice under the portal terms; where there is imminent danger, suspension may be immediate. Customers may contest measures with reasons via the portal's support channel.
